You will begin today's class with a 5-minute check-in within a table group to discuss the 2 perspectives Venn Diagram you were asked to complete for homework/prep prior to arriving to today's class.
Group Discussion (5 minutes):
What did you find to be a true account of the Crusades? (historically accurate and non-biased)
Please spend the first 5 minutes of class talking about what you discovered about the two different perspectives between Muslims and Christians during the Crusades and any evidence of historical facts about the Crusades from your brief glance at the documents --or from watching a video.
Today's Independent Work:
After the 5-minute discussion, you will then work independently on identifying historical bias in from historical text written during the Crusades. You will complete a Google Doc placed in your WH Drop Folder titled: "Recognizing Historical Bias: The Crusades" (you don't need to make a copy of this--it should already in your drop folder). You are expected to work on this
For homework/Prep:
You will continue working this document ("Recognizing Historical Bias...") outside of class for homework, if needed.

sept. 14 wed/sept. 15 thurs:

pToday, classes will finish up with Group presentations on major world religions and then take a short formative quiz on the major world religions.

After the quiz, students will begin examining text passages from The Crusades period of history and annotate the passage to highlight and make note of where they see religious bias in the historical text.  We will practice annotating page 414 of the following PDF document (printed hard copy will be provided to you in class)

For homework/Prep:
You are asked to begin going through a list of resources (text and video) provided in the Historical Perspective & Bias: The Crusades Google Presentation and begin completing a Venn Diagram on the two different viewpoints during the Crusades. Bring your Venn Diagram to the next class meeting.
