March 9/10: Independence Movements

3/5/2020

Helpful Links for Today's Class:
  • Pick Your Top 3 Choices for Independence Movements (Google Survey)
  • Group DBQ Packet Template - you will use this to develop your group’s DBQ (each member of the group copy/pastes their completed documents, citations, and questions to this document) -- this document will eventually be published and used by other students to study this country’s fight for independence.
  • DBQ Exemplar: Myanmar Decolonization Conflict
  •
  • Individual DBQ Document (this has been dropped into your WH Google Drive Folder)

HW: Do Background Research on Topic; Write 1-paragraph summary

As you communicate with your group members, decide on who is going to focus on which topic (see task instructions within the group document). There are 6 possible topics to choose from for each independence movement. Every group member must have a different topic as this will correlate with the brief summary you will write and the primary source you will try to find next class block.

You can communicate through your Group DBQ Packet Document.

You will begin taking notes in the INDIVIDUAL SUMMATIVE DQQ document that has already been dropped into your WH Google Drive folder.  Your homework is to start taking notes on your topic (this is why your group will need to decide who has what topic first).  Try to write a 1-paragraph summary of what you discover about your topic. This paragraph will later be copy/pasted into the group document.

Next class, your group will work on turning this into a cohesive background essay for the DBQ packet.
