HW: Pick your Top 3 of one of the following conflicts to independently research

List of Conflicts
  • WWII - 1939 - 1945 - Easy Research (note: this conflict is recommended for students who either have a genuine interest in WWII or are less confident in their research skills and/or understanding of historical conflict -- many similarities between WWI and WWII)
  • The Korean War - 1950 - 1953 - Easy Research
  • The American-Vietnam War - 1954 - 1975 - Moderate/Somewhat Complex Research
  • The Cold War Era - 1947 - 1991 Difficult/Very Complex Research (note: this is a difficult one--only recommended for strong students who also have a good understanding of WWII and the spread of communism post-WWII)
  • Cambodia's Civil War + The Khmer Rouge Genocide - 1967-1975; 1975-1979 - Easy Research
  • Myanmar's (a.k.a. "Burma") Military Junta (Civil War and Military Regime) - 1962-2011 - Moderate Research (more recent ending)
  • Other (note: you may list another conflict but be sure it is one that you feel confident in being able to research; additionally, you would also need 2-3 other students to agree to work with you on this conflict -- this is necessary for debates and the DBQ summative)
After you've looked at a brief overview of the history of these conflicts, make your selection for your Top 3 that you are MOST interested in.
Complete the following Google Survey to indicate your Top 3 picks.

Each class will have 5-6 different conflict groups. No groups can be a duplicate (there will only be 1 group in each class researching a specific conflict).  Mrs. Stewart will try to place you in a group of your Top 3 picks. The goal is that you are in a group research a conflict that 1. is of interest to you and 2. is at the right level of difficulty/complexity that you can handle.
