Today you will continue research on your selected civilization. You will work on adding notes to your own copy of the G-SPICE Cornell Notes. You will also continue working, communicating and collaborating with your group to add information, photos, videos, etc. that can be useful for your group. Please continue to add content, helpful resource links, etc. to your group's Padlet.
Most students have made a copy of the G-SPICE Cornell Notes and submitted the link. Block E needs to still do this (and a few other students as well). Yes, you submit the link while you are still working on the document. Don't wait until you finish--this way I can give you formative feedback while you are working on this. G-SPICE Cornell Notes will be due Thursday, March 17th. They will be summative. We will go over the details and criterion for this on Thursday. On Thursday, you will practice (yes, its formative) evaluating one of your sources (you will get to choose the source). Helpful links for today's class:

Today you will be forming a new group (approx. 3 students) and your group will be selecting a region of the world and civilization from that region of the world to research. Your historical time period is the Middle Ages.
You will work together with your group to collect data and build a model representing the unique features, and highlight your selected civilization's culture traits, and innovative contributions to the world. You will eventually be tasked with individual projects that will become part of your model and you will be summatively assessed on the individual aspects you contribute to the group model. The model will be interactive so that students participating in a Gallery Walk can learn about your civilization both through the model and through the use of online media and information using QR codes. You will all learn from each other! To get started, here are some resources you will need access to today: Today, you will use your Venn Diagram and the 2 different perspectives/points of view (POV) to answer questions about how the story of the Crusades has been told differently by different groups based on their religious, geographic, and/or cultural background: Use the textbook as a source to help support the facts section of your Venn Diagram and to answer the questions. Formative quiz on ancient china today! (this is based on chapter 5)Today, we will be taking a look at how historical records are not always 100% accurate. Even in our history records, which should be FACTS, we find bias (our own feelings and perspective) sneaking into the history books. We have to ask questions about historical records such as:
This is the case of The Crusades. We have 2 stories, written by 2 different groups (Christians and Muslims) who record history differently. It is up to historians and archeologists to piece together written records and artifacts to try to accurately describe human history and help distinguish facts from "story" or inaccurate accounts of history. Today we will begin our focus on ancient China and how geography played a factor in the development of China's ancient civilization. We will examine how different ancient dynasties in China overcame geographic challenges and used China's geography to their advantage. We will explore how Geography continues to play a role in modern China as well. Helpful Links for Today's Class:
