| This week we will begin our introduction to Unit 4: The Human Condition. We will start with taking a look population and how population factors into and affects the human condition (and vice versa). In this unit, you will be looking at many issues related to the human condition: population (population density, population growth and decline, carrying capacity, birth and death rates), standards of living and quality of life, levels of development, poverty, economic disparity, equality, gender issues, and human rights. For the summative, you will be conducting your first full authentic investigation by investigating economic disparity (the divide between rich and poor) in South Korea. You will be assessed on Criterions B, C, and D during this unit. This unit is approx. 1 month long. We will finish this unit in mid-May, with this year's final unit on Global Issues. This unit will prepare you for investigating and understanding global issues and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Resources for this week will be provided later. For Monday's class, you will need your laptop, a dry erase board and the vocabulary handout provided. |
During today's class, you will complete the summative annotated bibliography assignment. Please look at the feedback received for your formative annotated bibliography tasks. Also, you may use any source (and quiz question(s) used during the formative tasks for your summative annotated bibliography today.
When finished, you will upload (in PDF format) your summative annotated bibliography document to submit your summative work. This must be submitted by the end of class today.

Week of March 29th - april 1st: Create digital presentation of selected topic for your civilization
3/30/2016
This week, you will develop your digital presentation. You will have all of Tuesday's class, Thursday's class and Friday's class to work on this. This gives you nearly 4 hours of class time to develop your presentation. It is due by the end of Friday's class. This is both individual work and summative work. I expect all students to work independently on their presentations. Please be sure to also see the Criterion that will be used to assess your level of work for this. The criterion can be found below and also in the summative "Civilizations PBL" presentation. For this week's HW (Formative #2: Quiz Question + Annotated Bibliography), please go to the Weekly Homework page and/or Managebac. | Helpful Links for this week's tasks:
