Students:
For this week's homework... please ensure you have completed the Scrap Shoe Design Evaluation Booklet. These are to be turned in either to Mr. Willauer (drop this off in MakerSpace) or upload the digital version to Managebac to the Design Summative task. Also, beginning on Thursday, students should begin working on the summative investigation on their own time outside of class. The final summative investigation is due June 3rd. No exceptions. No late work...because all MYP course grades must be finalized by June 6th.

This week... please read Chapter 20 "Poverty" from Exploring Global Issues textbook.
There is not any task other than to read this Chapter for background information, but you will take a formative quiz based on the information within this chapter. This will help you understand the topic for the upcoming investigation. Formative Quiz next Tuesday, May 10th! Students: This week you will go through the GAPMinder Presentation (linked below). Follow the steps on the presentation, go to the GAPMinder website and look at the data, watch the GAPMinder videos and then create a short comparison presentation of 2 countries you've selected to compare quality of life and demographic data for.
Due: Tuesday, May 3rd. HW: Week of March 31 - April 1; Create 1 quiz Question + Annotated Bibliography; Due April 1 @9pm3/30/2016
For Homework this week, you will continue to work outside of class on your research and note-taking about your selected Middle Ages civilization. Please complete the G-SPICE notes template provided to you. Your notes are summative. Please see the criterion posted in the Civilizations PBL presentation and the post on ManageBac.
You will need to record facts and details from sources you find and will need to add an annotated note about the source and information at the end of the document. We will begin practicing annotations and evaluating the reliability of sources during our research.
This week, you will take a look at historical perspective and bias and analyze two different accounts of historical events. We will use The Crusades as an example of how we can recognize when people's own viewpoints have affected how we tell historical stories. You are asked to watch the video in the Crusades presentation and complete the Venn Diagram separating out the European Christian viewpoint of The Crusades from the Arab Muslim perspective. Record the facts (not opinions) in the middle. Use the questions in the video to guide your exploration and understanding of the biases found in both video excerpts but you are not expected to record written responses to each question the video asks--we will work on the questions during class on Friday. Use the textbook as a source to help support the facts section of your Venn Diagram.
Please read through Chapter 5: "Ancient China" and take notes. It is recommended that you take 2-column notes for continued practice. Chapter sections are linked below. Please be sure you look at the score and feedback you received on your previous 2-column notes and strive to earn a "4" (highest score) on these notes. Chapter 5 (all sections) should be read and notes completed by Friday, Feb. 19th.
Notes will be checked during class on Friday, Feb. 19th. You will also have a formative quiz based on the Chapter readings.
This week's homework is to finish reading Chapter 8 on the Roman Empire and continue taking 2-Column Cornell Notes in your journal (yes, handwritten notes on paper!)
