Please review presentations, flashcards, notes, etc. to study and prepare for Wednesday's Summative Test. Please take a look at all of the presentations, PDF documents, videos, etc. posted on the Grade 8 Main Page  (look at the section for "Geography Mini-Unit")

You will be assessed on the following MYP Criterion:

Criterion A: Knowing and Understanding
i.   use a range of terminology in context
ii.  demonstrate knowledge and understanding of subject-specific content and concepts, 

    through descriptions, explanations and examples

  • This will be assessed primarily through questions that test your knowledge on geography vocabulary terms, and your understanding of geography concepts (5 Themes of Geography, The 4 Spheres & how they interact together to create the world's climate, landforms, and make life possible, Map Distortion etc.)

Criterion D: Thinking Critically
i. analyze concepts, issues, models, visual representation and/or theories
ii. summarize information to make valid, well-supported arguments

  • This will be assessed through interpreting data on a variety of maps, and your response to open-ended questions that require you to write a longer response and summarize your understanding of geographic information, models and concepts, while also considering multiple perspectives.

Make 20 Flashcards on Quizlet.com  (see task instructions posted on Managebac). 
Cards should be a combination of geography terms, concepts, etc. to help you study for next Monday's summative geography test. 
Use the following links to join the Quizlet class for your Block:
Block B Students: https://quizlet.com/join/uS6DF2ZEE
Block C Students: https://quizlet.com/join/zxK2CJwSz
HW Instructions: After you Join the class: 
  1. choose to add a New Folder. Label it Individuals and Societies
  2. Within your new folder click to add a "Add a Set" to add a new set of cards. 
  3. Label your Set of cards "(your first name)' Geography". Example Mare's Geography.
  4. Click the + sign to begin creating cards. 
  5. Add text and images to your cards.
Note: You may use any of the presentations and information from the Grade 8 Main Page Course Overview section (look under the "Geography Mini-Unit")...You will also notice a link at the top of the page for my YouTube Channel "Your Global Classroom" that has a Geography video playlist. Also, try looking through the Daily Agendas on Geography.   (I am not going to tell you exactly what you need to make flash cards for because every student is different--create 20 flashcards for geography terms and concepts you really don't quite know and should really practice studying. Only YOU know what this should be!
